GodSeed: Meet Laelia

Originally from my Patreon post here

Laelia Eirini Gardenia De Romalia I, the sole daughter of the Romalian royal family, was born over four decades after the Romalian Empire’s collapse and the death of her grandmother, Lycoris the Tyrant. Her birth was subject to secrecy, born with a Near Human nature. Though her family possessed pyrokinesis, manipulated the winds, and could shapeshift, she remained powerless and fragile.

Despite her flaws, they considered her birth a blessing, perfectly timed for a marriage arranged thousands of years earlier. Her journey home from the engagement takes an unexpected turn when she becomes lost in The Dark Forest, where a Shadow promises to save her—for a price.

personality sliders

Her isolated upbringing made Laelia reserved and awkward. What she lacks in social etiquette, though, she makes up for in empathy. Her tendency is to put others first, even at her own expense, and always do the right thing. She’ll likely agree to most requests if helping others is involved.

Notes

  • Under her right (viewer’s left) eye, she has a small, faint scar.
  • Though born Near-Human, Laelia possesses one Draconic trait: slit pupils.
  • Like her father’s family, Laelia inherited a two toned hair color.

Likes

Reading

With a life of solitude and seclusion comes a yearning for escapism. From an early age, she became an avid reader, delving into fantastic worlds and later to more intricate topics of study. Her reading speed and level are well above average.

Helping others

Seeing others happy and thriving, just for the sake of it, makes her happier than anything.

Frilly fashion

Pastels, frills, lace, dresses, skirts, blouses. She loves feminine clothing and dressing up.

Fruit

She is a big sweets person, and will incorporate fruit into most her meals.

Dislikes

Violence, War

Pain and suffering are intolerable to her, inexcusable no matter the reasoning.

Solitude

So much time alone can make one go insane.

Rain

Something about the gloom and quiet makes her heart ache.

Meat

She would prefer not to eat flesh, if she can help it.

Skills & Abilities

HEALING KISS

Despite her lack of Elemental Instinct, she seems to possess a Healing Kiss that can close wounds in an instant, though at cost to her own body.

LANGUAGE

Not exactly fluent, but has knowledge of many languages. She knows enough to piece together a sentence or the tone/topic of a passage.

POLITICS

A more recent topic of study she picked up when her betrothal was announced. Has an in-depth knowledge of her country’s political structure and workings.

HISTORY

With so much time to spare between pages, Laelia has a wealth of knowledge regarding her nation’s (and surrounding nations’) histories.

SWORDPLAY

Average skills in swordplay, specifically with rapiers. Focuses on self defense, uses her cape. Though she has potential, her practice was not well-encouraged by her mother.

Strengths

EMPATHETIC

Despite being a Princess of a major world power, Laelia was not exposed to high society or other members of the nobility. Instead, she developed a deep sense of empathy and compassion for others through reading, both fiction and non-fiction alike. Because of that, she’s developed aspirations to aid and help others.

CREATIVE SOLUTIONS

Strict and authoritative parenting has created a sneaky, secretive young woman who finds creative ways to rebel despite her circumstances.

QUICK LEARNER

She enjoys studying as a hobby, and so absorbs new information quickly. Although her hands on experience is limited, she has a decent understanding of various skills through reading.

Weaknesses

BLEEDING HEART

Her care for others often goes too far, often to self-sacrificial levels.

NAIVE

Unfamiliar with the world around her, only has book smarts. Overly trusting. It is easy to manipulate and lie to her.

NEEDY

Desperately craves attention and external validation.

SOCIALLY ANXIOUS

Without much practice in socialization and conversation, she is an unwilling hermit that longs for connection, but no idea how to achieve it.

Summary

Childhood

In a world populated by descendants of goddesses, Laelia was born nearly human, possessing neither magic nor a Natural Form. To protect her life and the country’s future stability, they kept the birth of the frail child, the only female heir to the Romalian royal family, a secret from everyone outside the palace. She experienced constant loneliness and exclusion from her family, treated less than like a child and more as a fragile porcelain doll. Even her staff were afraid to touch her, for fear of breaking her. Her few “friends” were the personal guards she’d had since childhood, a pen pal, and the characters in her favorite books.

Looking Forward

Her only chance at a brighter future rested solely on her qualification to marry her childhood friend and pen pal, the neighboring country’s only male heir. By marrying him, she realized she could become more than a doll, educating herself in political affairs and history to become a fitful ruler. Still, she yearns to help others directly, as a member of her country’s Peace Corps.
